Christmas is a wonderful time of peace, harmony, optimism, and good will towards others. So it is in that spirit that the annual Huron Carole concert series returns this year with its national tour to help raise funds and awareness for Canada’s hungry. With over 18 stops throughout the country and an assortment of high quality musical talent including George Canyon, One More Girl, Beverley Mahood and Shannon Gaye, founder Tom Jackson’s call to end hunger is ready to be heard once again in communities large and small, near and far.

Since 1987, Canadian actor and musician Tom Jackson has been working hard to bring the message to end hunger by cultivating a network of like-minded artists from around the country brought together with the common interest of helping Canada’s needy. While under the name of The Huron Carole and Singing for Supper, the concert series has helped spread awareness of the nation’s hunger problems and raise funds to help food bank workers and volunteers accomplish their mission of ending hunger. “There’s so much work to be done to quell this country’s problem with hunger and it’s hard to believe that in a country such as ours this is still an ongoing issue.” states Jackson. “It’s a really good feeling to be able to help our brothers and sisters in need to feed their family and themselves, which is such a small and basic thing to ask when you think about it.”

The Huron Carole is presented by Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life and proudly sponsored by Enbridge, NOV Wilson, Sentry Investments and CMT.

For over 40 years Tom Jackson has been entertaining audiences through his acting and music as well as spreading his message of hope for a brighter future by raising awareness and funds for food banks and charitable organizations. While younger and older generations of TV viewers remember him for his acting as Billy Two Feathers in Shining Time Station and Chief Peter Kenidi in CBC’s North of 60, it is in his first love, singing, that draws him to create change both within and outside of his community. He can inspire, uplift and entertain 10 or 10,000 and the gifts he shares, he carries from his ancestry, his life and his loves. www.tomjackson.ca

JUNO Award winner and one of this country’s top country music stars, George Canyon, has sold over 300,000 albums in Canada. He has fans from coast to coast and won numerous CCMA accolades and for those who have seen his live show know it’s an experience they will never forget. A CCMA Humanitarian Award recipient, George is sensitive to the population’s hunger situation and is thrilled to be a part of this year’s Huron Carole Show to help those in need.  Canyon has just signed a deal with Big Star Records Inc (dist.Universal) and currently has a hit single at radio, ‘Slow Dance“ as well as many acting credits in film and TV shows, the latest performance, aired on TV, is in a remake of the 1929 classic Gary Cooper movie, ‘The Virginian‘ with Trace Adkins and Ron Perlman.  www.georgecanyon.com

The first thing audiences notice about the BC-based One More Girl (Britt and Carly McKillip) is their pristine blend of voices, the sort of effortless harmonies only ever delivered by siblings. Their poise and presence is something not often seen in such young performers.  OMG hail from a musical family and have been making music together since they were tiny. They have shared the stage with acts such as Toby Keith, Darius Rucker and Keith Urban , have had many hit records in Canada and have recently been signed to Open Road Recordings. One More Girl will release their new single “Love Like Mine” soon. The girls will also be appearing in the TV movie, “Home for Christmas” with George Canyon and others, airing on CMT this winter. www.onemoregirl.com

A successful singer, songwriter, actress, model, and television host, Beverley Mahood is truly a dynamic entertainer. In the past couple of years, Mahood has performed for some very exclusive audiences, including the G8 World Leaders in Toronto, British Royals William and Kate (on their first official trip to North America,) for the men and women of the Canadian military during a two-week tour of Afghanistan, and most recently for a crowd of hundreds of thousands as host of the CBC Canada Day Celebrations on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. www.beverleymahood.com

Shannon Gaye has just released her brand new CD “Little Wonder” — urban music with matter for the mind. This latest original CD pays homage to vintage Soul and R&B, an acoustic gem with a modern spin. Co-written & co-produced by pianist extraordinaire Kristian Alexandrov, “Little Wonder” presents evocative tales, solid grooves, and the sophisticated textured harmony that defines the idiom. From the most delicate melodies to sky high, roof-raising licks, Shannon is in full command of her voice. Music writer James Muretich described her as “the slender singer with the big soulful voice – the kind that knocks you for a loop.”  www.shannongaye.com
