STARS
- Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society
STARS
provides rapid, highly specialized air medical care and transport
to the critically ill and injured. The familiar red helicopters
have become symbols of excellence in care and rapidity of
response. Since 1985, STARS has carried out more than 12,000
missions and our crews have made an important difference in
the outcome of thousands of patients’ lives and in those
of their families.
STARS
is truly a volunteer supported organization with more than
500 active volunteers throughout the province who help with
fundraising events, serve on boards and committees, and provide
support to a variety of other activities.
STARS'
vision is “Saving lives through partnership, innovation
and leadership”.

Gala for STARS, the Petroleum Services Association of Canada
(PSAC) raised a record $325,000 for the Alberta Shock Trauma

amount raised by PSAC for STARS to over $2 million.
More
than 1,000 people attended this year’s event, which
took place Saturday, January 22, 2005 at the Calgary Stampede
Round-up Centre. Volunteer emcee Darryl Janz, Anchor of Calgary’s
CFCN News at 6, led the sold out crowd through the evening’s
events, including dinner, auctions, raffles, dancing and a
private performance by Canadian country music star George
Canyon. Guests were also treated to a surprise visit from
the Calgary Stampede Show Band during dinner.
