Fans
flock to see Canyon
BY ANDREW FOOTE

The
new Canadian Tire store in Greenwood thought of a good way to
stir up
interest for its grand opening October 28: book country music
star George
Canyon.
Country
music fans young and old came from all over the Valley to meet
canyon,
get his autograph and buy his music in person - proving the
popularity the
music enjoys amongst all kinds of people.
When
asked about the wide range of fans country music attracts, Canyon
replied, "It always has because it's family-oriented music
and it appeals to
all age groups."
The
majority of people waiting in the line that snaked through most
of the
store were fans since Canyon (real name Fred Lays) finished
second in the
internationally-televised Nashville Star talent contest in 2004.
"I've
been a fan of his since he started on Nashville Star. He's great,"
said
Rita Joudrey of Berwick, and most people seemed to share her
views.

and Yarmouth earlier
in the week.
