George Canyon WINS 2008 ECMA Entertainer of the Year!
His fourth-consecutive win as Entertainer of the Year

"It is still hard to grasp the blessings that we have received over the past 5 years in our career. Jennifer and I were shocked to learn, that once again, our fans had blessed us with the ECMA Entertainer of the Year Award. We are so very, very grateful for the support we continue to receive and certainly wished we could have been there to share in the celebration of ECMA 08'. East Coast Music is a strong part of, not just this country, but this continent's diverse musical culture and I am so honored and proud to be a part of it! Thanks to the ECMA for their continued good work and support of East Coast talent. A big congrats to all the nominees and to my brother Dave Gunning for his wins this year and a big THANKS to every member of our team!" - George Canyon

‘In A Quiet Room’ Tour

In the mid-1990s Johnny Cash decided it was time to take his live show to a new level, an intimate and personal level. Small theatres and clubs, including Johnny Depp's famed "Viper Room" in LA, set the tone for a tour that truly 'took the music to the people.' Over a decade later, Cash's business philosophy is being utilized by a Canadian country music superstar who has also resurrected the Cash smash "Ring of Fire," at his live shows.

George Canyon's "In a Quiet Room" tour speaks volumes with the numbers alone. Fans will have a chance to see him perform forty three shows in all 10 provinces and with an average venue size of less then 500 people. Canyon will hit the road in unprecedented fashion traveling over 12,000 kilometres from the time the tour kicks off in September to the time the tour wraps in late November.

"I've been blessed enough to win 2 Juno awards, and a bunch of CCMA awards, but none of that matters if we can't celebrate it all with the fans,” says Canyon. "In 2006 we played arenas right across the country. As we brainstormed about what we wanted to do for 2007, we came up with the "In a Quiet Room" concept. Most of these venues are intimate enough to make people feel like I am performing for them alone, and that was exactly what we wanted. Fans should be prepared to hang out with me and the band for about 2 hours as we crank out some of my hits and as I pay homage to some of the classic country songs that have had a profound influence on my career.”

"This show is about a 'once in a lifetime experience' for fans," says Canyon's Agent Jim Cressman. "People will never again get a chance to see Canyon in intimate venues like the ones chosen for this tour. This show is going to be less about the smoke, the lights and the glitz and more about showcasing George's personality and world class vocals. It is a landmark event, that will sell-out fast, and we are proud to deliver it to his fans - they deserve it!"

George Canyon's Christmas on CMT Canada

George Canyon's Christmas is a one-hour music variety show hosted by country star George Canyon and featuring two special guest artists. This light-hearted, music-filled holiday special features 10 holiday songs inter-woven with a story of Canyon trying to make it home in time for Christmas.

Canyon's story of trying to make it home for the holidays in spite of many obstacles was shot on location in Toronto and Nashville and is both humorous and heartwarming. The scenes filmed feature veteran actors Neil Crone (in the role of 'The Angel') and George Buza ('The Horse Driver') as well as a cameo appearance by hockey great, Doug Gilmour.

The majority of the songs were performed in a beautiful church with stunning Christmas decorations including a huge Christmas tree. Musical guest artists are country star Julie Roberts and folk singer Dave Gunning.

George Canyon's Christmas is a light-hearted and good-natured family program and features some wonderful arrangements of popular Christmas songs. Canyon, guest artists, and actors beautifully capture the spirit of the holidays.

Songs include Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Silent Night, Blue Christmas, and Away in a Manger.

Juno Award-winning country artist George Canyon will be kicking off the new Toronto Argonauts season with a special half-time show. Performing songs from his new album Somebody Wrote Love, as well as selections from his gold selling One Good Friend, the half-time show (and the game!) should not be missed. George will also be participating in the "See You On The Field" program, which allows fans to come onto the field and meet their favourite players after the game!
