Country star performs at the Clarke Dec. 19

Country sensation George Canyon will be putting on his Home for Christmas concert tour Dec. 19 at the Clarke Theatre.

Canyon is an overnight sensation whose career hit warp speed when he became a finalist in the USA Network’s Nashville Star talent search, instantly becoming a household name to millions of country fans. Soon after the show, he signed a record deal with Universal South and a management deal with Garth Brooks’ manager. The actual truth behind the myth and the glitz is that this Pictou County, Nova Scotia native has spent 14 years and plenty of tough times performing and writing and working every kind of job to float his music dreams.

Now Canyon is still working on his dream, but his dream is a reality.

This year he won the 2005 JUNO Country Recording of the Year for the album, One Good Friend and then Sept. 25 at the Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMA) he walked away with four trophies. He won the CCMA awards for Male Vocalist of the Year, both Single of the Year and SOCAN Song of the Year for the song No Name and the prestigious fan-voted Cheez Whiz Fan’s Choice award.

With his hit single, Who Would You Be still high on the country charts, Canyon is releasing a new single and video this month, as well as putting the finishing touches on a Christmas album which will be which will be released in time for the holiday season.

Rock.It Boy Entertainment and Country 107.1 FM are jointly presenting this show. Advance tickets from Ticketmaster are $25. Cost is $27.50 at the door.
