Rally
to support troops paints N.S. town red
New
Glasgow, N.S. -- More than 2,000 Nova Scotians -- many wearing
red
clothing and waving flags -- packed a town square yesterday
to attend a
rally in support of Canadian troops being sent to Afghanistan.
There
was a big cheer for local country music star George Canyon during
the gathering as he sang Farewell to Nova Scotia, but an even
louder one
for the three soldiers from the area who are heading to the
war-torn
country in the coming weeks.
The
rally, billed as "Red Friday," is the latest in a
series across the
country. CP
