George
Canyon Inducted as a Lifetime Honorary Member of the Georgetown
Volunteer Fire Department
Fire
Chief Allan Gallant of the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department
in Georgetown, Prince Edward Island paid tribute to and made
a special presentation to Canadian country George Canyon during
his sold-out show at the Kings Playhouse on Nov. 7th.

Gallant,
indicating that many people become fire fighters because of
their desire to help others, said that the lyrics of Canyon's
songs also reflect the spirit of that kind of personal commitment.
He also pointed to Canyon's continuing dedication to World
Vision programs.
Gallant
further noted that Canyon was a former Volunteer Fire Fighter
with the Eureka Fire Dept. of Pictou County, Nova Scotia.
He
then presented Canyon with a plaque which reads -- "Presented
to George Canyon. Inducted as a Lifetime Honorary Member of
the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Dept. Nov. 07/07."
Canyon,
quite moved by the presentation, commended fire fighters,
for their willingness to risk their lives to save others.
He further remarked that In small, rural towns, fire fighters
are the backbone of the community.
