Country
stars are attracted to Christmas like flies are to whatever
flies eat. Needless to say, they generally do a pretty good
job rendering the holiday sentiments into gold. Country stars,
not flies. A lot of country records have too much heart and
not enough soul. So does most Christmas music. It's a perfect
fit.

Canyon makes a game attempt to inject soul into seven tracks
that give equal time to Santa and Jesus. Of note is an Elvisy
burlesque of Blue Christmas, an upbeat version of Away in a
Manger and a rock 'n' roll Frosty the Snowman that's good for
a laugh.
Watch
your bass level playing this thing. His Gartho profundo might
blow your woofers.
