Country singer George Canyon, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was 14 years old has been a very active spokesperson for the JDRF for a long time.  On Thursday, October 1st he joined JDRF in their “Day of Action” in encouraging people to approach their local government representatives and ask for support for the important research the JDRF is doing.  One recent development is the ground breaking “encapsulation device”, which is at the clinical trial stage now.  Please check out the interview on CTV’s Canada AM  with George and JDRF President and CEO Dave Prowten.

Canyon spends a lot of his time giving inspiring talks to children with T1D and their families. The main message he delivers is for them not to give up on their dreams and that they can achieve their goals, despite the disease.
