Canyon,
McCoy in running for CMA
NASHVILLE
(CP) — Nova Scotia’s George Canyon and Ontario’s
Jason McCoy are among nominees for the Country Music Association’s
global country artist award.
Launched
in 2002, the award seeks out a country star who has "furthered
the popularity of country music, and brought attention to
the genre, in their foreign-based territory."
Other
nominees include Switzerland’s John Brack and Australia’s
Adam Harvey.
The
winner will be invited to accept the honour at the 2006 CMA
Music Festival, to be held in June in Nashville.
Canadians
have fared well in this competition. Paul Brandt is a previous
winner.
